Feds: Prison Guard Arrested For Taking Bribes To Deliver Drugs To Inmates

A federal corrections officer is finding himself on the opposite side of the jail cell after authorities allege he took a bribe in exchange for delivering drugs to an inmate.

On Tuesday, authorities say 27-year-old Albert Harris, a correctional officer in a penitentiary at the Coleman Federal Correctional Complex northwest of Orlando, met with an undercover federal agent. Authorities say Harris accepted a $5,000 payment and agreed to deliver 200 strips of an opioid-like drug to an inmate.

Harris was arrested following the interaction.

Authorities say Harris started providing inmates contraband in exchange for cash payments in July.

He faces up to 15 years in federal prison if convicted, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
