Florida Parent Charged With Pointing Gun At Teacher At St. Lucie Church

Authorities say a  parent pulled a gun on a teacher at a Post St. Lucie church.

A St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office report says martial arts instructor Christopher Lasala was at Grace Christian Academy at 590 NW Peacock Blvd. Sunday discussing an afterschool class he is starting with parents.

When one parent allegedly asked about guns, Lasala replied they aren't always the best choice for self-defense.

Lasala and witnesses told deputies that 61-year-old George Meyer overheard Lasala and said martial arts are useless. They say he then pulled a handgun, pointed it at Lasala and said, "Bang, you're dead. No way you could have got me before I pulled it out."

Meyer soon put his gun away and left.

Witnesses said parents and children were between Meyer and the instructor when he pointed the loaded gun, according to the report.

Meyer later told deputies he pulled the gun, but didn't point it.

He has been charged with aggravated assault.
