FL Man Among Those Arrested In Connection To Charlottesville Rally

One of those arrested at Saturday's violent rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, is a Florida man who reportedly has white nationalist connections and a link to Tampa.

Virginia State Police say 44-year-old James M. O'Brien of Gainesville was charged with carrying a concealed handgun.

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, O'Brien is a member of a militantly-racist organization called Florida League of the South, which claims to "...advance the cultural, social, economic and political well being and independence of the Southern people by all honorable means."

O'Brien works for Tampa-based North American Roofing, according to an outside report.

A Facebook profile matching records for O’Brien lists the following occupations: Former Management at U.S. Department of Defense (DoD); Past, Artemis Global Inc. and Tamerlane Global Service, and ties to William and Mary University, Virginia Beach, and Leesburg, Virginia.

O’Brien also lists himself as a United States Marine Corps Veteran.
