FDA Warns Of Deaths Linked To Weight Loss Surgery Devices

Many people opt to get weight loss surgeries to aide them in attaining a prospectively longer, healthier life. However, the FDA is now issuing a deadly alert tied to gastric balloons

At least five people have died after undergoing weight loss surgery involving gastric balloon devices, according to the FDA.

It's unclear whether it was the implant surgery or the balloons that caused those deaths.

Two different devices were involved, including one manufactured by ReShape and another by Apollo Endo-Surgery.

The FDA is urging doctors to monitor patients who've received gastric balloons.
