Officials: 5 Dogs Found Dead After Fire At Florida 'Pet Resort'

A freak fire at a Florida "pet resort" has left five dogs dead.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue officials said in a news release that firefighters found the dogs after knocking down flames at the Almost Home Pet Resort in Valrico Tuesday night.

Most of the damage from the fire was contained to the kitchen, but there was heat and smoke damage throughout the home.

It took about 30 minutes to control the fire.

The dead dogs belonged to the homeowner and a kennel on the property was not damaged. The pets being boarded there are said to be safe.

No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Valrico is a suburb of Tampa on Florida's west coast.
