The University of Miami has officially opened a new overpass that allows for students, staff and faculty to safely cross between campus and a busy intersection of U.S. 1.
The school tweeted out video of the new pedestrian overpass at the Metrorail station located on campus.
Students have been pushing to get the bridge built since 2013, noting that there aren't a lot of crosswalks in the area.
The need for a safer route increased after multiple accidents in the area, including a student who was killed in 2005.
