A pair of lobster divers in the Florida Keys scooped up more than they bargained for during a Sunday dive: a human skull.
Monroe County Sheriff's officers say a Naples man and woman were diving under the Card Sound Bridge when they encountered the sight.
The pair left the water and waved down an officer from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, who was patrolling nearby.
The bones have been turned over to the Monroe County’s Medical Examiner, and a detective from the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit has been assigned to investigate.
There’s no information yet on the cause of death, identity of the deceased or how long the bones have been there, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Major Crime Unit at 305-289-2410.
