Miami-Dade Wants To Make Sure You And Your Student Are Back-To-School Ready

On August 21, Miami-Dade County Public Schools will officially open its doors to more than 350,000 students for the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year.

And to ensure that the transition back into the classroom is a smooth one, Miami-Dade officials are offering new “Back-to-School Tool Kits" for students and parents.

These tool kits include informational videos and have been updated with information about registration and vaccination requirements, school hours, transportation, important dates, and school safety.

Families can also find information about various academic programs, diploma options, before and after-school care, testing, free and reduced-priced meals, as well as policies regarding their child’s education.

Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho will also host a Twitter Chat on Monday, from 4 - 5 p.m. to answer back-to-school questions from the community.

Join the conversation on Twitter and send questions to @MiamiSup using the hashtag #AskMiamiSup.
