An off-duty Miami Police detective is recovering in the hospital after a head-on collision with a drunk driver.
Detective Antonio "Tony" Torres and his wife, Carol, were on their motorcycle in Tennessee when the crash happened on July 28.
Both underwent life-saving surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
Police say the other driver was arrested, and was under the influence of alcohol and methamphetamines at the time of the crash.
Torres, a 23-year veteran of the Miami Police Department, is currently listed in serious condition.
His wife is in stable condition.
