Amazon Holds Job Fairs As Company Continues To With Growth

Amazon is hiring THOUSANDS of people to staff its fulfillment centers.

The company is planning to hire for 50,000 new positions, including tens of thousands of full-time jobs.  Amazon Vice President John Olsen says those hired will get the same benefits package other employees get no matter where they live.

Though it's common for the online retail giant to ramp up its staff in August in preparation for holiday shopping, the magnitude of the hiring spree underscores Amazon's growth.

The hiring campaign begins Wednesday at job fairs across the country on what's being called "Amazon Jobs Day."

The company is advertising starting wages that range from $11.50 an hour (at the Tennessee location) to $13.75 an hour (at the Washington site).

A fulfillment center will be opening in Opa Locka in 2019.
