Recall: Coffee Causes A 'Rise' Out Of Drinkers With Viagra-Like Ingredient

A Texas-based coffee brand is asking that consumers put down their cup of Joe after the FDA found it contained an ingredient similar to the active elements in Viagra.

Bestherbs Coffee, LLC, voluntarily recalled all the lots of Kopi Jantan Tradisional Natural Herbs Coffee.

An FDA lab found that the grinds, sold nationwide online in 13-gram red packs and 25-packet boxes, contained “the presence of desmethyl carbodenafil. Desmethyl carbodenafil is structurally similar to sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, an FDA-approved prescription drug for erectile dysfunction.”

Like Viagra, the coffee could potentially interact with medications or cause problems with blood pressure.

The coffee product was also found to contain "undeclared milk." Those with milk allergies could get an adverse reaction to exposure to the milk.

Consumers are asked to return the coffee they have left to Bestherbs Coffee LLC, 4250 Claremont Dr, Grand Priarie, Texas, 75052.

The company says customers will be reimbursed for the coffee and postage. Those with questions can contact Bestherbs Natural Coffee at 817-903-2288 or Albertyee.abc@hotmail.com.
