Governor Rick Scott is in West Palm Beach Tuesday to announce that help is on the way for the opioid crisis.
House Bill 477 gives out stiffer penalties for selling illegal doses of fentanyl, which can be up to 100 times more powerful than morphine and it's extremely dangerous when mixed with heroin.
In May, Scott declared a state of emergency in the opioid crisis and directed additional resources to address it. In 2015, 3,900 people died in Florida from overdoses.
The new penalties kick-in October 1.
