Standoff Ends With Broward Deputy Committed To Psychiatric Care

A Broward Sheriff's Office deputy has been committed to a psychiatric care facility following a standoff in Boca Raton.  

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office responded to the area near the Boca Country Club Sunday afternoon to find an unidentified Broward cop threatening to hurt himself. Authorities say no one else was threatened in the standoff.

The two-hour standoff ended peacefully with the cop taken to a local hospital under Florida's Baker Act statute.  

The incident reportedly stemmed from a domestic incident dealing with the cop's ex-wife.

The deputy's name is not being released at this time. 

during the altercation, roads surrounding the country club were blocked off. Roads re-opened after the deputy agreed to be Baker Acted, at around 3 p.m. on Sunday.
