New Gorillas To Make Debut At Zoo Miami Friday

Two new, male gorillas are making their Zoo Miami debut Friday, after exhibit renovations are completed.

According to Zoo Miami, the gorilla exhibit has been vacant for several months as renovations and modifications were made. These improvements were made in anticipation of two male gorillas that arrived from the Sedgwick County Zoo on May 20.

Both gorillas were in quarantine while the renovations were being completed.

Shango is 28-years-old and was born at the San Francisco Zoo, a spokesperson said, while his 23-year-old brother, Barney, was also born at the same zoo.

Zoo Miami, located at 12400 SW 152 St., will have both brothers on display starting Friday.
