Vice President Mike Pence is visiting Florida International University for a conference Thursday. And, in the wake of Wednesday's attack in Virginia, security is a key concern.
Pence, joined by Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, will be speaking at the Conference on Prosperity and Security in Central America - an event taking place on the campus of FIU. The Vice President will spend time with leaders from El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala on campus.
The school is equipped with anti-vehicle barriers and security cameras, giving authorities a strategic view of the area.
A protest is also planned for the Republican leaders visiting the campus.
Around 1,000 people are interested in attending according to a Facebook event post.
