Florida Rep. On Baseball Field Moments Before Shots Were Fired Wednesday

Florida Congressman Ron DeSantis was on the baseball field just before shots were fired, hitting House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and four others, Wednesday morning in Alexandria, Virginia.

A rifle-wielding gunman, identified as 66-year-old James Hodgkinson, shot House Majority Whip Steve Scalise in the hip, as well as a congressional staffer and two Capitol Hill police officers.

DeSantis says that as he was leaving the game before the shooting, a man asked him if those on the field were Democrats or Republicans. It's not clear if that man was the shooter.

The gunman has since died from his injuries, and Scalise is expected to make a full recovery.
