Online marketplace giant Amazon is building a fulfillment center in Opa-locka.
The company unveiled plans for the new center on Wednesday, which will become Amazon's tenth center in Florida. Approximately 1,000 jobs are expected to be created when the facility becomes an official tenant of the Carrie Meek International Business Park, slated for completion in 2019.
Employees will work alongside robotics to pick, pack and ship small items such as books and electronics to customers.
The commercial complex is under construction at Curtis Street and LeJeune Road, near Miami-Opa-locka Executive Airport.
The Amazon building will be 800,000 square feet and cost $92 million dollars to build.
