MLB Reportedly Investigating Tampa Bay Rays Catcher Abuse Case

The MLB is reportedly investigating abuse claims made against Tampa Bay Rays cather Derek Norris.

ESPN.com is reporting there are allegations Norris "physically and mentally abused" his former fiancée during their relationship.

Kristen Eck made the claims in an Instagram post, stating "I also was physically and emotionally abused by [the man I thought I was going to marry.]"

Eck did not specifically refer to Norris by name in the post, but a former interview with the MLB identified her as Norris' fiancée.

Further details of the abuse are not clear, but the report says the league is looking into them.

Norris, 28, has played six seasons in the big leagues with the Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres and the Rays. The Rays signed Norris in March after being released by the Washington Nationals during spring training.
