A housekeeper is behind bars after police say she set an apartment on fire in Coconut Creek.
According to police, 44-year-old Jannette Pacheco admitted to deliberately setting a fire that destroyed a fourth-floor apartment near Coconut Creek Parkway and the Florida Turnpike Saturday morning, in an attempt to "cover her tracks."
Pacheco allegedly said she started the blaze to cover up stealing $160 in cash from the apartment’s owner.
No one in the building was hurt, but the home is considered a total loss.
Pacheco is faceing a felony charge of arson to an occupied structure. She is being held on a $50,000 bond.
The person residing in the unit is staying with relatives.
