Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Venom Unit Captures Venomous Lizard On Cargo Plane

No, no snakes were found on this plane, but an exotic lizard sure was!

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Venom Unit responded to the scene Thursday night on a cargo plane, where they had to corral a Black Throat Lizard. Authorities captured the 4 foot (!!!!) reptile using a dog crate. The reptile was checked out and appeared to be in good condition, officials said.

Black Throat Lizards are native to Tanzania, Africa, and can become aggressive if they are not handled regularly.

Officials did not reveal which airport the lizard was found at and don't know how it ended up on the plane.

The reptile was handed over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.
