Palm Beach County Woman Arrested For Leaving Children In "High Crime Area" City Park

A Lake Worth mother says she left her children in a city park because she couldn't take them to work.

Now, police say 31-year-old Jennifer Rosario is facing two counts of child neglect.

Palm Beach County sheriff's say they found Rosario's two children, ages 3 and 11,  playing in Bryant Park, located on South Golfview Road, Tuesday afternoon. The woman allegedly left the children for at least 1.5 hours in 90+ degree heat.

One of the children was allegedly found jumping from rock to rock about 20 feet from the Intracoastal sea wall. The younger child was playing alone on adult exercise machines, an arrest report said.

Rosario told the Sheriff's Office she works cleaning motel rooms and could not take her children with her. She also insisted her children were fine in the park, despite a deputy writing the park is in a "high crime area."

Following her arrest, nearly $2,900 were found in Rosario’s purse that “could have paid for temporary child care,” the deputy wrote in the report.

Rosario was released Tuesday from the Palm Beach County Jail Office after posting a $6,000 bond.
