Air Canada Flight Makes Emergency Landing In Orlando After Passenger Goes After Crew With Coffee Pots, Attempts To Open Cabin Door

An Air Canada flight, en route from Jamaica to Toronto, was forced to make an emergency landing in Orlando Tuesday, after a passenger attacked crew members with coffee pots and attempted to open the cabin door midflight.

According to WFTV, a federal complaint says crew members contacted the FBI at about 7:30 p.m.

Brandon Michael Courenyea allegedly had to be zip-tied to his seat after he first yelled at people for "looking at him." He then allegedly grabbed coffee pots from the galley and started swinging them saying it would "only take one guy to take the plane down."

According to the complaint, “When confronted (by the flight attendant), Courneyea lunged for the rear cabin exit door and began to pull the door lever up to open the door. (He) then was restrained by crew members and fellow passengers on the aircraft.”

Courneyea was arrested at the airport and charged with assault or intimidation of flight crew member or flight attendant and interfering with the performance of duties.
