Spirit Airlines, Pilot's Association Agree To "Return To Status Quo"

You most likely have heard about the Spirit Airlines-induced fiasco that resulted in three passenger arrests at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Monday.

And while there may be some residual speculation, there's some good news in you plan to fly Spirit anytime soon.

The airline and the Airline Pilot's Association (ALPA), which Spirit has said "purposely and unlawfully disrupting the airline's operations," have agreed to restore operations to the status quo, even though both sides haven't agreed to new contracts.

"[We have come to an agreement] to extend... the temporary restraining order (TRO) issued by the U.S. District Court, directing pilots to restore the status quo while the company and union remain in ...contract negotiations. The TRO will remain in effect until a collective bargaining agreement is signed..."

This means that there should be no more slowdowns or cancellations that caused chaos in airport terminals across the country earlier in the week.

Spirit Airlines also published an official statement regarding the flight interruptions Tuesday, claiming that various incidents affected "...approximately 15 percent of flights across [Spirit's] network."

The Miramar-based airline also claimed that they are "hopeful that we can put this moment behind us and get back to serving our customers."
