A man and woman have been reunited with their dog, two days after their rental car was stolen with two of their pups inside.
On Tuesday night, owners Ana Rojas and Sergio Quintero parked their rented Toyota Corolla in front of their Southwest Ranches home, for no more 10 minutes, the couple said. Luna, a schnauzer, and Niño, a Yorkie mix, were left inside the car.
After grabbing some dog food from their home, the couple found their Corolla and both dogs missing, which happened between 11:30 p.m. and midnight.
They said they were about to leave the house when the incident happened.
The vehicle was recovered the next day in Plantation, by police, who took two high school students into custody for the crime. The suspects allegedly stole the car and dumped the dogs nearby.
Luna was returned to her owners Wednesday, however Niño was not found inside of or near the car.
But Southwest Ranches resident Louise Dery found the dog shaking and soaking wet in her backyard Thursday morning. She phoned Qunitero, and now both Luna and Niño are home with their owners.
The couple said they now want to press charges against the teens who took their rental.
