Florida Mother of Seven Donates Kidney to Young Coworker

A Florida mother of seven children has donated one of her kidneys to her coworker at Lowe's.

Venice resident Christine Higbee, 45, donated her kidney to 26-year-old Zac Pacyna last December to help treat his genetic kidney disease known as Alport syndrome. People with the disease experience progressive loss of kidney function.

Higbee says donating her kidney to Pacyna was no big deal. She jokes that if she ever needs another kidney, she can borrow one from one of her seven kids.

The pair have known each other for seven years and were friendly because Pacyna worked for Higbee's boyfriend on the overnight shift at the store.

Both employees have since returned to work.
