Bachelorette, 82, Awaits Fiancé's Murder Parole 32 Years Later

An 82-year-old will finally walk down the aisle, 32 years after her and her fiancé met.

Wanda Pate hasn't seen fiance David Monroe Goodwin in six years, but talks to him on the phone four times per week. Goodwin has spent a total of 40 years behind bars for his role in the murder of four people in Florida during a 1977 drug smuggling operation. He will be released from prison in May.

His release, and their long-awaited marriage hasn't always been in the cards. Goodwin was initially sentenced to death even though he wasn't a vicinity in the killings. He later received a life term and is due to be paroled May 2.

Pate says she never dreamed of falling in love with a prisoner, "but it happened."
