Rapper Tory Lanez Faces Drug, Weapons Charges After Miramar Arrest

Daystar Peterson, better known as rapper Tory Lanez, was arrested on drug and gun charges in Miramar Wednesday.

Lanez, 24, was charged with carrying a concealed firearm, possession of cannabis (20 grams or less), failure to register a motor vehicle, driving without a valid driver’s license and failure to show proof of liability insurance. The cannabis charge is a first degree misdemeanor, while the firearm possession charge is a third degree felony.

Authorities say the Canadian rapper was driving an unregistered Rolls-Royce. Upon pulling the vehicle over, officers say there was a strong smell of marijuana coming from the car.

Lanez has been one of Canada's most recently successful hip-hop artists.  His album, titled I Told You, debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 when it premiered in 2016.
