Undocumented Citizen Posts tax Form, Internet Explodes

Belén Sisa and her parents visited the United States with she was 6-years-old. Low and behold, they extended their stay, and 23-year-old Belén is now an undocumented immigrant, fulfilling her junior year at Arizona State University.

Sisa is a DACA recipient, which means she's protected against deportation under the Obama administration's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program — a form of authorization for those who came to the country as a child to gain eligibility for work authorization, a social security number and deference of removal.

The college junior is like many individuals in our country at the moment, so what makes her special? Sisa posted a photo of her From 1040 to social media Sunday morning, and it went viral. She wrote a caption explaining her undocumented status to "myth bust" the belief that undocumented immigrants don't pay taxes and benefit from government aid.

She stated that she paid $300 to the state of Arizona. She also noted that there are many more undocumented citizens who, like her, pay their taxes "into a system they will never receive anything from."

Her post has grabbed the attention of thousands, garnering 9.8K likes, more than 4,500 shares, and 92 comments (to date). However, not all of the feedback has been positive.

Sisa has since posted more than 35 screenshots of negative feedback and comments regarding her post. "The HATE is real guys. The hate is real," she said. " I am legally working in the United States through DACA, and I'm pretty sure the IRS isn't going to come after someone who PAYS their taxes."

But Sisa’s first post wasn’t all about showing her contribution to the country's tax system. She also called out Trump for having refused to release his full tax returns.

We see you.
