Fix-a-Flat Doctor to Serve 10 Years in Prison For Botched Surgeries

O'Neal Morris made international headlines when she was accused of injecting female patients with a deadly mix of ingredients.

Now, a Broward County judge is sentencing Morris to 10 years in prison and five years of probation for illegally injecting patients' backsides with super glue, cement, Fix-a-Flat, silicone and mineral oil during cut-rate cosmetic procedures.

Morris, a transgender woman, was sentenced Monday after pleading no contest in the death of 31-year-old patient Shatarka Nuby. She will serve her sentence in a men's prison.

Nuby died in federal prison in 2012 after allegedly paying Morris $2,000 for 10 toxic injections. In court, Morris said she and Nuby were close friends.

Those words were not enough for family and friends of the victim. They went before the judge Monday to ask for justice.

Despite her attorney’s arguments that Morris will either be placed in solitary confinement for her own protection or face violence and sexual abuse, the judge ordered Morris serve her prison sentence in men’s prison because current Florida law doesn’t make exemptions for transgender people.

This is the second time Morris will be incarcerated for butt injection crimes, previously serving for practicing without a license.
