An Indiana lottery official says the sole winning ticket for an estimated $435 million Powerball jackpot was sold in an Indiana city.
Hoosier Lottery spokesman Dennis Rosebrough says the name of the business in Lafayette where the winning ticket was sold will be announced Thursday. Lafayette is about 60 miles northwest of Indianapolis.
The winning numbers in Wednesday's drawing were 10-13-28-52-61 and the powerball 2. Powerball is played in 44 states including Florida, plus Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Florida Lottery officials confirm that there were nine tickets in the state which matched four numbers plus the Powerball to win $50,000 each. Back in December, a Coconut Creek man matched the five white balls without the Powerball to claim a $2 million prize.
Since Powerball launched in the Sunshine State in January 2009, the Florida Lottery has had the most winners in the nation with more than 70 million winning tickets totaling more than $2 billion in prizes, including a dozen jackpot winners.
The top prize falls to $40 million for the next drawing on Saturday. On Friday evening, the Mega Millions drawing features a $64 million jackpot.
