Punta Gorda's police chief and the officer who accidentally shot and killed a woman participating in a Citizen Police Academy last summer are now facing criminal charges.
This afternoon the State Attorney's Office announced Officer Lee Coel is charged with felony manslaughter. He's now behind bars.
Coel previously resigned from Miramar Police after excessive force claims.
