The skies above Central Florida are expected to be busy in the coming months as Space X plans to launch rockets every two to three weeks, with the schedule ramping up soon.
A new $100 million launch site at the Kennedy Space Center is set to open next week and when it does, Reuters reports that Space X is looking to quickly work through its backlog of missions.
The launch calendar clogged up when a Falcon 9 rocket exploded while awaiting liftoff at Cape Canaveral last September. That site is still being repaired but Space X constructed a new pad north of the old spot.
Engineers continue working on some design upgrades for its rockets to address prior safety concerns and handle the increased workload but it is expected that Space X will likely push back its first manned missions.
