Opioid addiction is reportedly killing more people in Miami-Dade County than murder and car accidents.
Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez says it's time we zero in on the problem.
"We need to find out, why is it happening? Who's causing it? How can we help those that are addicted to opioids and and try to get them off of it? And number one, how do we get those that are selling this poison off the streets?" said Mayor Gimenez.
County leaders took the first step Monday with the Opioid Addiction Task Force meeting. The goal is to reduce addiction in our area through community outreach.
