In the State of the County address, Mayor Carlos Gimenez will update Miami-Dade on the progress they've made.
Some of the progress the county has made, breaking the cycle of local transmission of the Zika virus, the hiring of 132 police officers and economic growth. Some of the pitfalls, a rise in youth violence, like the recent shooting in Liberty City at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park Monday.
Spokesperson Mike Hernandez, says Mayor Gimenez has plans to put an end to the violence in our youth.
"Increasing the reward money that goes to individuals who either anonymously or otherwise provide information to Crime stoppers or Crime stoppers kids," said Hernandez.
Mayor Gimenez will deliver the State of the County Address at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center, 10950 SW 211 St., Cutler Bay at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday.
