Tropical Storm Arthur is giving National Hurricane Center meteorologists a chance to try out their new "Potential Storm Surge Flooding Map."

It shows how coastlines, rivers and lakes will possibly be impacted by the storm's storm surge and how deep it could get.

The map is so detailed, you can zoom into a zip code.

It'll be updated ever six hours when a system is threatening land.

NHC officials say the goal is to better inform people in the path of a system so they know what to expect.

Click on Operation Stormwatch, and look to the right where you'll see the Hurricane Center's updates.  There you can check out the storm surge map.
