Termites are eating up historic architecture in St. Augustine, America's oldest city.
Contractor John Valdes went before the Historic Architecture Review Board recently to warn them about the danger posed by Formosan termites.
He says these "super termites" have bigger colonies that can eat wood at a much faster rate than domestic termites.
Valdes has seen signs of these super termites in two buildings in St. Augustine, but they have been in the area for a few years.
He warns that "The super termites threaten the city's architectural history, and 'leaders need to step up before it's too late.'"
