The Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers about counterfeit versions of the diabetes, weight-loss drug Ozempic.
The FDA says counterfeit versions of the drug, semaglutide, have made their way into the supply chain.
Thousands of units have been seized for inspection.
Officials say patients should carefully look at their prescriptions and should not use units with the lot number NAR-0074 and serial number 430834149057.
Also, the FDA found the needles from the samples are counterfeit and may not be sterile, which increases the risk of infection for patients who use the counterfeit products.
