A New York City doctor is being punished for manipulating negative online reviews for his orthopedic practice.
Dr. Mark Mohrmann and his wife admitted to suppressing negative reviews and to posting fake positive reviews from friends and family and also to hiring freelance writers to leave fake testimonials.
Attorney General Letitia James targeted Highline Orthopedics for manipulating reviews on a slew of websites, including ZocDoc, Yelp, and Health Grades.
As part of the settlement, Mohrmann has agreed to take down all fake reviews and pay $100 thousand in penalties.
