(New York, New York) - A customer is now free after spending the night trapped inside a Jewelry store vault in Midtown, Manhattan.

The lock mechanism timed out at 8:45 Tuesday night locking him inside.

The 23-year-old man was checking his safety deposit box when the door locked from the outside trapping him in a 20-by-40-foot space.

Firefighters tried cutting the vault open overnight but stopped because the tools they were using were a safety risk for the guy inside.

The vault then automatically unlocked at about 6:15 this morning.
