(Los Angeles, Ca) - A major Hollywood fundraiser is being called off because of the ongoing violence in the Middle East.
The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures cancelled its annual red-carpet Gala planned for this Saturday out of deference for the victims of the conflict.
Event organizers said in an email that the event was being called off because of the Israel-Hamas war. The email said the Academy Museum "condemns all forms of hate and cruelty and stands in support of innocent Israeli and Palestinian lives affected by the ongoing violence."
This year's honorees included Meryl Streep, Michael B. Jordan and Oprah Winfrey.
