Simone Biles is back. The Olympic champion made her return to competitive gymnastics on Saturday in the US Classic in Illinois.
In her first competition since 2021, Biles performed in four events and landed the highest overall score of the night.
She beat several of her former Olympic teammates and easily qualified for nationals later this month.
Her return comes after her shocking departure from the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, where Biles said she experienced a mental block that stopped her from competing.

Gymnastics star Simone Biles’ is making a comeback in advance of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The 26-year-old Biles will compete this weekend in her first gymnastics meet in two years.
The U.S. Classic is a tune-up meet for the U.S. Championships, which are in three weeks in San Jose, California.
The five-woman team for this autumn’s world championships will be announced after a selection camp in September.
Biles had to excuse herself from the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 after suffering the "twisties" a type of mental block.
