A bill that could make it easier for Floridians to get FEMA disaster assistance is closer to becoming law.

The U.S. Senate bill would create just one deadline for Floridians to apply for FEMA help, rather than two.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio helped write the bipartisan bill which now goes to the House.

The two FEMA programs this bill covers currently have different deadlines and Rubio says, "that can cause confusion."
