(Wilton Manors, FL) -- Florida is teeming with invasive species like Burmese pythons and Lionfish but now there is a Lionhead rabbit invasion in Wilton Manors.

Apparently, a backyard breeder let some of the fuzzy creatures loose two years ago and now the Lionhead bunnies have a thriving 100-plus colony in the Broward community.

The city commission initially voted to exterminate the bunnies, however, after a public outcry, the commission voted to give the community time to raise $40,000 to relocate these rabbits instead.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is not getting involved yet, stating that the rabbits do not pose an immediate threat to native wildlife.
