(Pompano Beach, Fla.) -- A 500-pound robot sculpture, known as the 'Mechan H2O,' is now submerged in the ocean off Pompano Beach.

The steel robot depicts a scuba diver with Poseidon's trident and a big silver heart.

Mechan H2O was submerged Wednesday morning in the Atlantic as part of an underwater art exhibit which is part of the city’s public art program.

The sculpture sits off the stern of the Lady Luck the 324-foot tanker vessel that was sunk on July 23rd, 2016, as an artificial reef 1 ½ miles off Pompano Beach’s shore.

The robot sculpture and the ship are now contributing to Florida’s artificial reef system and are the most easily accessible major dive sites in the nation.
