A man who scored a hit album by recording whale sounds has passed away. Dr. Roger Payne was a biologist who discovered whale songs in the late 1960s, and released his research on a 1970 album called "Songs of the Humpback Whale." The album sold more than 100-thousand copies, and in 2010 it was added to the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress. Payne died June 10th at his home in Vermont at the age of 88.
