Air New Zealand will now be weighing passengers before they board some flights. The airline is using the measurements to figure out an average so they can better balance weight on international flights and calculate fuel consumption. Neither passengers nor employees will see the weights, the numbers will be sent directly and anonymously into a computer. The company says it's part of a five-year survey and is purely voluntary.
