Americans Fear Not Seeing Family During Holidays

The Thanksgiving table should have no more than ten chairs and a new poll shows most Americans fear they won't see any loved ones this holiday season.

The OnePoll survey conducted for Omaha Steaks also found

Sixty-percent of the people surveyed said COVID will prevent their families from gathering. Nearly 90-percent said keeping their family safe and healthy is the top priority this year.

The survey shows 41-percent have already decided to skip their usual gathering with extended family. And 57-percent said it would be the first time they've ever missed out on a family holiday gathering.

And an online family gathering just isn't the same. Virtual hangouts are losing their appeal, the study shows. Only a third of those polled planned a Thanksgiving video call.

On the plus side, fewer guests means less holiday stress. Not only are there smaller meals to prepare, but fewer political opinions at the table too! Sixty percent believe that spending the holidays away from family will make them appreciate their family more moving forward.
