Amazon Driver Quits, Abandons Truck With Packages Inside At Gas Station

If you’re waiting on a package and you live near Southfield, Michigan, you’ll want to listen up. A man named Derrick Lancaster made a post on Twitter Monday night that went viral by Tuesday. In his tweet, he said he was an Amazon Delivery driver and that he quit mid-shift. He writes that he “left the van on 12 mile and Southfield” and told people there were still items inside, as well as the key in the ignition. He told 7 Action News that he wrote the tweet as he was frustrated with his long hours, number of deliveries, and pay. He added, “It was immature and irresponsible on my end. At the same time enough is enough.” As of Tuesday his tweet had over 218,000 likes and more than 25,000 shares. Amazon has come under fire since the pandemic began due to workload complaints and concerns about the health and safety standards in place to protect employees.
