Cinderella Castle at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom is getting a makeover to celebrate two major milestones.
Imagineers will add gold bling and more sparkle to the castle to mark the 70th anniversary of the movie, "Cinderella," which hit theaters this week in 1950. The upgrade also comes ahead of next year's 50th anniversary of the Walt Disney World theme park.
The new, brighter paint scheme will be applied over the next few weeks. The shows performed on the castle stage will continue on schedule.
Disney fans took to social media to react to the news, and there was almost universal praise. Many saying this update is much better than the 25th birthday celebration that transformed the castle into a giant pink birthday cake.
Major upgrades are being made across all four parks as part of the 50th birthday celebration of Walt Disney World.
