What a difference a day makes...
After announcing it will no longer accept patrons who wear “Make America Great Again” hats or have face tattoos, one Chicago bar has now changed their minds.
“I should have probably thought it through a little bit more," owner of Replay Lincoln Park bar Mark Kwiatkowski said. "I didn’t think it would get the kind of reaction that it has gotten, but we’re going to make something good out of it."
The bar announced the rules over the weekend in a Facebook post after “much consternation and consideration to maintain a ‘classy environment,’” but backtracked Tuesday afternoon after claiming that the “posts were inappropriate.”
“We are sorry for our recent actions and realize now that our posts were inappropriate,” the bar said in a Facebook post Tuesday afternoon. “We meant to be funny and we took it too far. Everyone is welcome at Replay Lincoln Park.”
Although he admitted he should have thought through the idea a little more, Kwiatkowski still said he doesn't regret writing the post.
This comes just two months after a New York City judge ruled that bars can refuse service to people wearing MAGA hats.
Do you think restaurants and bars are just trying to gain attention by making statements like this?
